THE VENUE:

The historic Broughton Hall is situated in some of the most stunning countryside in Yorkshire and is set within 3,000 acres of secure and extensive landscaped grounds.

The estate has been nurtured by the Tempest family for over 900 years and is still the family home. The grade 1 listed building dates back to 1597 with later Palladian additions and beautiful formal gardens. Close by are many historic buildings ranging from The Home Farm, The Saw Mill to The Water Mill and Stable Courtyard, which have now been converted into the Broughton Hall Business Park where over 50 companies are based.

There are also 40 houses including the small hamlet of Broughton, The Bull Inn public house and a beautifully restored Walled Garden by Dan Pearson and the Utopia building by Sir Michael Hopkins. The diversification into offices has proved successful and the Estate has won numerous national awards over recent years.

From the Woodlands, rivers and moorland to the wildlife, historic architecture and closeness to Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield, makes it an ideal home for The Magic Loungeabout.

Yorkshire

Rhubarb and real ale, vibrant cities and culture, golden sand and sea, stunning walks and waterfalls. This is Yorkshire.

Boasting an abundance of places to stay, from boutique hotels to eco lodges and even yurts, this is an exciting and diverse destination for all budgets. There’s a wealth of exciting attractions, famous film locations, international events and more Michelin starred restaurants than any other area outside of London.

We look forward to welcoming you into our fine county and to The Magic Loungeabout which looks set to be terrific.

ENTERTAINMENT:

Kids garden

The Gruffalo / Zorbing / Junior Philosophy / Vintage Games / Treasure Hunt

Where the festival fairies play!

It doesn’t matter if you are aged 1 or 100 years old, we have tons of stuff for you to do in Angel Gardens.

Workshops

With loads of bell tents, yurts, decorated caravans and army tents you will find loads of workshops and activities that are great for kiddies and adults… maybe try your hand at making bath bombs and soap (complete with magic spells) make flower garlands for your hair, bling your wellies, learn how to build a fire (and cook on it), learn to knit, make lanterns, make swords and wands and with so many other crafts to learn and make you have to find something that inspires you!

Activities

We start in the morning with yoga (for all ages) dance classes and a wake up and shake up session. We have circus skills going on all day in the gardens, drumming by the campfire, junior philosophy sessions and lots of vintage games, electronic and board.

As dusk falls we light the lanterns in the garden and invite everyone to join us around the fire for bedtime stories, marsh mellow toasting and a singsong. Everyone brings a blankie and gets all squidged up for a bit of a giggle. As it gets dark we ask everyone who learned how to drum in the daytime to drum for our circus guys who welcome you to a fabulous fire show.

It’s a magical time in the gardens when it’s dark, with the workshop tents transformed into cosy seating spaces (with nice places for sleeping babies and children) you can sit and chill and with waitress service from our café bringing hot chocolate (with brandy for adults) and cream for the little ones… what more could you ask for at the end of a busy day of festival magic.

The campfire invites musicians and festival goers to jam with us all day and into the evening, with an open mic in the café tent, there is no end of traditional acoustic festival entertainment to sooth your soul…. So some on and join us (bring you instruments too!)

Garden Surprises

There are so many things to discover in the Gardens, from hidden sculptures (see if you can find the Wish Angel and hang your festival wish) impromptu festival weddings (come see us if you want to get married for the weekend) dressing up boxes, hidden books, face painting walkabouts and even a quiet place to just to sit in our peace garden… I have been told if you look hard enough you can see the fairies play in Angel Gardens. I don’t blame them is it such a super fab place to be.

I will be there of course, happy to sprinkle Angel Dust on you if required, I can’t wait to meet you all and introduce you to all the other Angels.

Love and Fluttering

Ps… if you have any skills to offer the kids or crafts spaces then drip drop us a line onangelbrookdesign@aol.com, also join us on www.facebook.com/angelgardens

Restaurants

We have lots of exciting food stalls with an emphasis on quality and variety. Here’s just a few to wet your appetite.

Azucar

In our food for thought Bar will be Azucars trademark authentic, reasonably priced South American tapas. Expect the range to be the more interesting classics such as tiger prawns, meatballs, chorizo and drunken chicken. You will see the legend Howard Marks on the Sunday who takes an active role in the more permanent restaurant in Leeds regaling tales on Sunday at 3:45.

Nigel Haworth BBQ

We’re especially pleased to announce Nigel Haworth will be our special culinary guest at The Magic Loungeabout. Famed for his coveted Michelin star, his appearances on BBC’s Great British Menu and Saturday morning kitchen plus a string of awards, Nigel will be bringing his stunning outdoor summer gourmet BBQ to The Magic Loungeabout. Expect his legendary homemade sausages and imaginative beer-can BBQ chicken. We are incredibly pleased Nigel has agreed to partner with us and we look forward to a little bit of refined indulgence.

Covent Garden Restaurant

Perhaps you’d like to sit down for an hour in this pop up restaurant. With a mixture of chefs and winemakers, the menu has been created with perfectly matching food and wine. For lunch and dinner, you can watch the world go by in our contemporary marquee sampling a delectable range of canapés while supping on a chilled white direct from our friends wine estate in Puglia, Italy.

Follow this on with either fresh Mediterranean grilled sardines, handmade spinach, goats cheese and cranberry ravioli or maybe a medium rare Angus sirloin with triple cooked chips and of course, perfectly complimented by a robust Sangiovesse or blush rose.

To finish, take one of our indulgent cup cakes away to enjoy while wandering around the festival.

Breakfast is served from 8am until 11am, perfect to eradicate any camping blues. Strong black Peruvian ground coffee, the Covent Garden English breakfast and a read of the morning papers will set you up for the day ahead.

You can pre book one of our hampers, so that you can chose exactly where you want to lounge. A delicious selection of nibbles, dips, salads, strawberries and clotted cream and wine, all served in a wicker basket with cutlery, crockery and wine glasses.

Call now on 07825 261553 to pre book your picnic hamper or reserve a table in the restaurant.
